A dashboard is a graphical monitoring and reporting tool that can help nonprofit organizations cultivate a culture of data-driven decision making. In "Models and Components of a Great Nonprofit Dashboard", capacity building experts Hilda H. Polanco and Sarah Walker share insights on how to set up and effectively use a dashboard system. While dashboards are relevant to programs and services, this article particularly focuses on their role in the context of organizational financial health.

Creating a dashboard requires a team of key people to discuss what success means for the organization, clarify the organization's Business-Model Drivers, identify strengths and challenge areas, and ultimately hone in on measurable key performance indicators (KPIs).
