Nonprofits can utilize CRM platforms, which allow them to store donor data in ways that make the information easily accessible for critical tasks.

Tools like CRMs can also help cultivate donors, thereby providing nonprofits easy access to information about engagement history to help communications teams decide which strategies will work best in encouraging donors to increase the size od their donations and gifts.

Since data security is essential for maintaining donors' trust, nonprofits should also take steps in ensuring protection of donor data.

Calvin Hennick, tech writer and contributor to BizTech, recommends that nonprofit websites must have SSL certificates and should incorporates tools like anti-virus, anti-malware, firewalls and intrusion prevention systems. He also advises that global charities must comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules, and should take advantage of risk assessment tools and other solutions to do so.
