It's not every day that a small town gets to throw out the first pitch at a Minnesota minor league baseball game, but that's exactly what's happened in Winnebago.
The Mankato MoonDogs are holding a "Winnebago Night" in the town this summer, where community members will throw out the first pitch, perform the national anthem, have a high-five with the team, and be featured on a videoboard throughout the game, the Free Press reports.
The town's economic development specialist tells the Mankato Free Press that last year's event was "very successful" and that this year's would be the same.
In exchange for a $1,000 fee, the town will get 100 reserved grandstand tickets to distribute to community members, and local business sponsors will buy tickets and advertise at the event in return.
"The EDA wouldn't necessarily pay for anything, we would just be spearheading it," the specialist says.
